FAQ's
What glass beads do I need for my pavement marking? Glass beads vary based on the state or county specification where you may be doing
work. The bid usually specifies which type of glass beads are necessary. If no written specification was included the department of public works can provide this information. What size beads do I need for blasting, polishing or cleaning? Industrial glass beads are specific in size according to application. Usually, the larger the size, the more abrasive the
performance will be. The most popular sizes are BOL 60-120, BOL 70-140 and
BOL100 - 170. What effect do coatings have on glass beads? Coatings play an integral part of the performance when applying glass beads for pavement markings. Simply, coatings help improve the embedment and adhesion qualities. Coatings are applied based on the binder application. It determines the focal point where the light is refracted, or most focused inside the glass bead. Most optimal index or refraction is 1.9. This index places the focal point exactly on the rear of the glass beads for the most focused return of light to it’s source.
