Flex-O-Lite’s 910 formulated glass beads are designed to work most efficiently with an encapsulated process. By itself, the optimal index of glass beads is 1.9. However, when a layer of protective film is applied over glass beads, the entrance angle of the light source is altered. By increasing the index of refraction to 2.1, this compensates for the altered light and effectively changes the return of light to simulate that of 1.9. The result is the greatest return of light using Flex-O-Lite’s Ultra-Index glass.
